I make you travel

My Travel Manager’s Job On first sight I have been so delighted that I was chosen for the job as travel manager, but then I realized that this has more challenges then I thought in the beginning. Like everyone I had to figure out what needs to be done. Although I had already been to Achill, there were many things in travelling that went so well last year that these parts were invisible to the participants of last year’s tour. However it was very exciting to explore and develop all that. So I made up some plans. Firstly, it was necessary to find out about the travelling data of the groups and participants. Not only for me but also for the others I created a participants list which was then sent around. With support of a travel agency, I started booking the flights according to the participants list. I also got excited about the booking of the trains and private coaches as I really could get in contact with the local people which felt like coming home. Especially I booked an Achill Island tour for the participants. During the travel I had to take care that really everyone arrives physically in Dublin. Finally going through ups and downs during the manager’s job I must say that this was a great experience.

Girls Allowed!

Two years ago I was an Erasmus exchange student in Vienna, Austria. I was very lucky to share the room with Louise – a girl from Sweden, the most wonderful person I have ever met. We decided to live together after one month spent in the same student home. The day I moved to her room, we both got very surprised: we had almost the same room decorations, same coverlets from IKEA etc. Our room became probably one of the most beautiful in that student house – all yellow and blue like the flag of her home – Sweden ? We had different timetables at the university and different friends so we didn’t spent so much time with each other. But we became really good friends! She encouraged me not to be shy and talk confidently in English although making mistakes (until then I talked only German). Once a week we attended singing lessons together. Every evening before going to sleep we talked about everything; mostly about love… ? It’s funny because we had almost the same experiences at the same time. So we waited for each other coming back from our dates and than talked a lot about everything that had happened, our expectations etc. The most memorable thing she told me is: “live and do everything you can like this, that one day you would not regret: why didn’t I do that?!” Until now I still follow her advice.
